FAQ
Are seam allowances included?
Yes. All our patterns include a 1 cm (3/8") seam allowance. The stitching lines are also marked on the pattern, so if you'd rather work without seam allowance or add your own, you can trace along those instead. See how to add seam allowance and why we use 1 cm.
How do I print a PDF pattern?
When you buy a pattern, choose A4 or US letter to print at home. You'll get a download link by email straight after payment. You can download the file up to 3 times, and the link works for 2 months.
When printing, set the scale to 100% and make sure options like "fit to page" or "scale to fit" are turned off. Page 2 of our patterns has a scale indicator that helps you check that the pattern has printed in the correct size.
Then tape the pages together, matching up the numbers and letters printed in taupe (light grey if you print in black and white). Our printing guide goes through it step by step.
Can I print at a copy shop?
Yes. Choose the full size / copy shop option when you buy, and the pattern comes as large sheets with no taping needed. Full size sheets need a wide-format printer, which most copy shops have. Just ask them to print at 100% scale.
What if I'm between sizes?
That's very common, as most people aren't one size all over. Our sizing follows contemporary European clothing brands, so compare your bust, waist and hip measurements with our size chart rather than going by the size you usually buy.
Since our patterns are not multi-size, it's not as easy to blend between sizes as you may be used to with multi-size patterns. However we have kept our pricing low so that buying two sizes and blending them is not a huge extra cost. We are also working on tutorials for fit adjustments and will update this page soon.
Can I get a refund on a digital pattern?
Because our patterns are digital downloads, we can't offer refunds once a pattern has been purchased. If something's wrong with your file, though, for example it won't download or open, or you think there's an error, just email us at hello@sveapatterns.com and we'll do our best to help.
